  • Acetate Hinges: For acetate frames, push-fit metal or spring hinges are commonly used.

Part 3: The Manufacturing Process


Regardless of the type, most hinges undergo a plating process to improve their appearance and corrosion resistance.


The choice of plating depends on the base material and desired finish.


Once plated, the hinges are attached to the frame using various techniques, such as spot welding for metal frames and heat welding for plastic frames. It's essential to ensure that the area around the hinge is clean and free of excess plastic.
